Product Description
Unlike cellulose, aramid paper is produced from synthetic aromatic polyamide fibre. It withstands high temperature without charring, does not support flame propagation and largely retains its dielectric properties when it takes up moisture. These three properties form the technical basis for dry-type transformers being able to run oil-free.
Combined with an aluminium conductor, the resulting winding is both light and high in thermal class. Class 220 (R) insulation widens the overload window by allowing a higher temperature rise in a machine of the same physical size; in facilities with a variable load profile this turns directly into operational flexibility.
The aramid papers used are assessed to the non-cellulosic electrical paper requirements under IEC 60819; the thermal-class definition is based on IEC 60085. The paper is wound with half-overlap onto the conductor and saturated with impregnating resin on request.
Applications
Dry-type transformers, indoor distribution transformers, metro and tunnel supply transformers, hospital and mall installations, wind turbine nacelle transformers.
