Product Description
Polyimide film is one of the insulation materials offering the highest dielectric strength per unit thickness, and it preserves its mechanical properties over a wide temperature range. This product is produced by winding polyimide film helically with half-overlap onto the conductor; so at every point of the conductor there are at least two layers of film.
The coating is fixed by baking after winding thanks to the heat-activated adhesive layer on the film. The resulting insulation is both thin and extremely durable: it resists short-term over-temperatures, radiation and chemical attack. The Class 240 (C) continuous operating temperature is a level standard enamels cannot reach.
The films used comply with the requirements for electrical-purpose plastic film under IEC 60674; the thermal-class definition is based on IEC 60085. On request an additional glass-fibre wrap or impregnating varnish can be applied over the film.
Applications
Traction motors, aerospace and defence generators, high-temperature transformers, nuclear and radiation-environment windings.
