Product Description
Twin conductor is produced by running two enamelled round wires in parallel and combining them under a common insulation layer. Using two small sections instead of a single large one limits the current concentrating in the outer region of the conductor section at high frequencies and lowers the effective resistance.
It is also advantageous in winding: because the two wires are wound in a single pass and in a fixed position relative to each other, the winding geometry becomes repeatable and the gap between turns and leakage inductance decrease. The two wires staying fixed under common insulation also balances current sharing between parallel branches.
The conductors are enamelled to the general requirements of IEC 60317-0-1; test methods are based on the IEC 60851 series. The single-wire diameter must be chosen considering the skin depth at the operating frequency.
