Product Description
Flat-section twin conductor makes the use of parallel conductor practical in the windings of large electrical machines. Two flat conductors are placed on top of or side by side, a common glass-fibre wrap is applied over them and they are fixed with resin.
This structure reduces the eddy-current losses that arise in a single large-section conductor and increases the winding's bendability. The glass-fibre wrap provides mechanical protection and an impregnation-grip surface; after vacuum-pressure impregnation the winding becomes a single piece.
Conductor dimensions are set to the IEC 60317-0-2 approach; tests are applied to the IEC 60851 series. To limit the circulating currents arising from the position difference between parallel conductors, transposition must be planned in the winding design.
Applications
Large motor and generator stator windings, power transformer low-voltage windings, induction heating coils, arc-furnace transformers.
