Product Description
Glass-fibre insulated aluminium conductor is used in designs where a mechanically strong insulation must be combined with a light conductor. It markedly lowers the total weight in high-voltage windings of dry-type transformers and in large reactors.
Aluminium's coefficient of thermal expansion is higher than copper's; because the glass-fibre braid can move together with the conductor surface during temperature changes, no cracking forms in the insulation. This flexibility is an important advantage in applications with frequent load changes.
After the insulation resin cures, the resulting surface forms a strong bond with impregnating varnish. Conductor dimensions and tolerances are set to the IEC 60317 series approach; because of the oxide layer at joints, ultrasonic welding or crimp connection is recommended.

Dry-type transformer high-voltage windings, large reactors, light generator windings, electromagnets.
