    Product Description

    Flat bare aluminium conductor is used as an alternative to copper in winding designs where weight and material cost are decisive. Although about 60% larger cross-section is needed for the same current, the total winding weight drops markedly because aluminium's density is around one third of copper's.

    EN AW-1370 grade is the high-purity class defined for electrical-purpose aluminium and provides about 61% IACS conductivity in the annealed condition. In wide sections with higher thickness, EN AW-1350 grade is also supplied. The naturally forming surface oxide layer is thin and stable; at joints this layer must be removed mechanically or chemically.

    Produced to ASTM B233. Because of aluminium's creep behaviour, torque control and spring-washer use at bolted joints are an integral part of the design.

    Dry-type transformer windings, foil and busbar applications, reactors, distribution transformer secondary windings.
