Flat Copper Conductor Supply for a Power Transformer Winding Line

Supply of custom-size flat copper conductor for the low-voltage windings of a medium-voltage power transformer; edge radius and lengthwise plan set to the winding line.

About the Project

The standard cross-section the customer used in the low-voltage windings did not fit the winding window of the new design. Studying the winding calculation and die dimensions together, the width-thickness pair was redefined; we agreed on a cross-section that raised the fill factor while keeping the corner radius within a range that would not stress the enamel and paper insulation.

Dimensional acceptance criteria were defined on the basis of IEC 60317-0-2: width and thickness tolerances separately, and corner radius within a thickness-dependent range. An EN 10204 3.1 material certificate was issued for each batch and the batch number matched to the reel labels.

Shipment was split into batches according to the customer's winding schedule. Cut-to-length was done by the metreage consumed on one bobbin, removing the need for a joint mid-winding; a jointless-delivery commitment was given on critical windings.
