Product Description
Kraft paper insulated flat copper conductor is the basic element of oil-type power transformer windings. Cellulosic paper is wound onto the conductor at a defined number of layers and overlap; when the transformer tank is evacuated and filled with oil, the oil penetrates the paper's pores and a paper-oil insulation system that works together is formed.
The dielectric strength of this system is far above the value paper provides alone; because the oil fills the air voids between the paper fibres, it pushes the onset of partial discharge to high voltage levels. The determinant of insulation quality is therefore the thoroughness of the drying and oil-filling process.
The papers used comply with the electrical-purpose cellulosic paper requirements under IEC 60554; the conductor is produced from EN 13601 referenced electrolytic copper. The product is shipped in moisture-proof packaging and must be stored in a controlled environment before winding.
Applications
Oil-type power transformers, distribution transformers, shunt reactors, current and voltage transformers, tap-changer connections.
