    Product Description

    Class 220 (R) enamelled wire is used in machines where the continuous operating temperature is high or short-term overloads recur frequently. The coating system consists of a base layer with high thermal stability and a polyamide-imide top layer; this structure raises the softening temperature and heat-shock resistance.

    Grade 3 build increase raises the inter-turn voltage strength and is therefore preferred in motors driven by frequency converters and in applications with high impulse voltage. Increasing the build lowers the fill factor somewhat; this trade-off must be evaluated together with the thermal calculation in the winding design.

    Produced to the general requirements of IEC 60317-0-1; the thermal-class definition is given on the basis of IEC 60085 and the thermal-endurance assessment rests on the IEC 60216 approach.
