Class 200 Enamelled Conductor for a Wind Turbine Generator Winding
Supply and cross-section verification of class 200 enamelled conductor for weight and thermal-endurance targets in nacelle generator windings.
About the Project
Two constraints apply simultaneously in wind turbine generators: the winding must be light enough to be lifted to the top of the tower and thermally strong enough to withstand the fluctuating load profile. Within the project, the winding temperature rise and hot-spot margin were evaluated together and class 200 enamelled conductor was selected.
The chosen product had a film providing flexibility and adhesion in the base layer and a polyamide-imide layer raising abrasion resistance in the top layer. The build grade was determined by calculating the fill factor allowed by the winding window. At acceptance, dielectric breakdown voltage, elongation and mandrel-winding tests were verified per IEC 60851 methods.
Shipment was split into three batches per the production plan. Reels were palletised upright with corner protection applied; no non-conformity was recorded during transport, the stage where film damage risk is highest.
